Online Head-to-Head is an official Madden NFL 27 mode. Before blaming a lobby, confirm the platform pair, crossplay state, identity and current build conditions that determine who can actually meet in the same pool.
PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S share Madden 27's supported crossplay pool for Online H2H. Switch 2 does not. Live queues, records and errors still need a dated test because service conditions can change independently of the guide.

EA describes a global leaderboard for opted-in players and platform-only boards for opt-out players.

Crossplay is supported only across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch 2 is outside EA's published crossplay pool.

EA says it is enabled by default on supported platforms. Xbox uses system settings; PS5 and PC expose the setting in game.

For a direct friend search, EA points to EA connect and its Player Search tab, using an EA ID or supported platform identifier.

Record region, time, platform, opt-in state, error text and wait time before calling a matchmaking problem repeatable.

Maintenance, server releases, Title Updates, downtime and matchmaking updates can change crossplay availability.

Stop at platform scope
If either player is on Switch 2, EA's current crossplay FAQ does not place that pair in the shared pool.
Verify the identity
Use EA connect Player Search and compare the EA ID or supported platform identifier character by character.
Record the conditions
Opt-in state, region, time and current service conditions matter. EA says crossplay should enlarge—not guarantee—the pool.

Capture the exact error and run the site's crossplay troubleshooter before changing network and game settings together.

Which platforms support Madden 27 Online H2H crossplay?
